刘勇军教授,男,免疫学博士,教授,博士生导师,国际著名免疫学家。

  1984年在白求恩医科大学获临床医学硕士学位,1989年获得英国伯明翰大学医学院免疫学专业博士学位,1989-1991年在英国伯明翰大学从事博士后工作,1991-1994年任法国里昂先灵葆雅研究所资深科学家,1994-1997年任法国里昂先灵葆雅研究所首席科学家,1997-2001年任美国DNAX研究所资深科学家,2001-2002年任美国DNAX 研究所首席科学家,2002-2011年任美国德克萨斯大学MD安德森癌症中心·免疫研究中心主任,2011年至今任美国贝勒大学医学研究所副总裁(VP)、科学总监(CSD),免疫研究所所长。2011年6月受聘于中国国家千人计划项目B类特聘教授。

  刘勇军教授的研究主要涉及基础免疫学、癌症治疗和免疫疫苗、病毒性肝炎、自身免疫性疾病等领域。其中对树突细胞状细胞的免疫学研究尤为突出。其主要研究方向包括:1)树突状细胞(DC)的发育和功能研究;2)T细胞的激活和分化;3)Toll-Like Receptor在DC中的表达及作用;4)Pre-DC2/IPCs 与HIV的相互作用;5)细胞介素及癌症的免疫治疗研究。

  刘勇军教授在树突细胞状细胞的免疫学研究方面作出了巨大贡献,目前研究集中在树突状细胞介导的T和B淋巴细胞免疫平衡和活性调节,这些研究都与移植免疫学息息相关。1991年,在先灵葆雅实验室开始了人类B细胞亚群的研究,明确了B细胞亚群与信号调节生发中心B细胞的扩增和分化密切相关,所获得的研究成果成为人类B细胞生物学和B细胞肿瘤学的基石。至今为止,刘勇军教授在免疫学和肿瘤学领域有如下重大发现:1)发现了浆性树突状细胞(PDC)或称一类IFN产生性细胞(IPC);2)解明了生发中心B细胞选择的分子机制;3)确定了人外周血B细胞亚群和生发中心B细胞分化为记忆性B细胞与浆细胞的分子转换;4)示踪了体内抗原特异性B细胞的反应;5)发现了TSLP,一种上皮细胞源性细胞因子,能够调节DC介导的过敏性T反应和T细胞稳态;6)发现了胸腺Hassall小体产生CD4+CD25+调节性T细胞的功能。此外,刘勇军教授在肿瘤免疫中心建立和开展了针对不同肿瘤的免疫治疗方法,为人类肿瘤免疫疗法的发展贡献了力量。

  目前在Nature,Science,Cell,Nature Immunology,Immunology,PNAS和JEM上已经发表了200多篇研究著作,所发表的文章被引用总数已超过25,000次。现任美国免疫学会委员,是Nature,Science,Nature Medicine,Nature Immunology及Immunity等多个著名杂志的审稿人,受邀在国际会议及著名大学和研究机构演讲百余次,主持美国NIH及其他基金会科研项目12项,持有专利4项。
